Local Data for Costa de la Luz

Public Holidays and Festivals

All festivals in the Costa de la Luz contain some important components; music, wine, horses and bulls - all on show during some of the region\'s more colourful affairs. These include the Carnival of Cadiz and the Horse Fair of Jerez (10 – 17 May), and Horse Racing on the beach at Sanlucar de Barrameda (in August). Home of El Rompido, the province of Huelva hosts the most famous romería (open air festivities held at the site of shrines) in Spain - El Rocio in Almonte, which take place during the Feast of Pentecost (Whit Sunday). The small town somehow finds room for more than a million pilgrims. Other, smaller romerías of note in the province are staged at Cartaya, Lepe and Moguer. Golf

El Rompido Golf and Beach Hotel has an area of 50 hectares with 18 hole golf course on site, together with pitch and putt area, putting and practice greens. There are also areas for children to try out the sport and fully qualified instructors willing to help improve your handicap.Green fees are cheaper in Spain than in Portugal and keen golfers will find a wide range of excellent courses throughout the region.
