Set on a hill 1.5km from the centre of Funchal this colonial style Madeiran family home was built in the 18th Century and has been transformed into small and elegant hotel, rich in history and beauty yet with all the 5* modern comforts you would expect. The interior of the main house was refurbished and decorated to maintain its original standard and ambience and the Quinta is set in 6.4 acres of magnificent botanical gardens with wonderful examples of rare and old trees, exotic flowers and charming lakes. For the past 45 years the gardens have been home to Columbo, a giant Galapagos tortoise.
