| Situated on the east cost of the island, the beautiful, fortified Baroque city of Valletta is the capital of Malta. Built in the 16th Century by the Knights of St. John, the city has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Valletta is home to many treasures such as the majestic St. John’s cathedral and the huge Grand Harbour. The city’s narrow streets are bursting with churches, palaces and artworks.
Bustling during the day and peaceful by night, there is a wide choice of delightful open air cafes and restaurants, some of the most popular being in the square next to the palace. A cultural centre, Valletta is host to many plays, concerts and exhibitions throughout the year.
The main bus station is situated just outside the city walls and services operate to all the main towns and resorts across the island. |
