Deia
|
|
| Situated in the foothills of the stunning Sierra de Tramuntana Mountain range the beautiful hilltop retreat of Deià, with its coloured stone buildings and painted shutters, remains untouched and picture-perfect and is one of the most gorgeous villages in the Mediterranean. Nestled between the typical Mallorcan villages of Valldemossa, Sóller and Bunyola, Deià has
been a haven for artists, musicians and writers since the early 20th century. One of its most notable residents was English poet Robert Graves who deeply loved the north
west of the island. Visitors to the small cemetery can see his final resting place, overlooking the mountainous Mallorcan coastline and azure Mediterranean. The
nearby beach is a beautiful cove (cala) with an excellent rustic fish restaurant overlooking the sea. Although the beach is shingle, its character is immense, and it is
reached via a track built through ancient olive groves.
Deià has an impressive selection of bars and restaurants. |
