Just off the coast lies the national conservation area of Dragonera Island, so named because it looks like a dragon’s back rising from the waters. Regular boat trips across to the island are popular. There’s a small beach but for a better one visit Camp de Mar, some 3 miles away. Sant Elm beach, overlooking Dragonera Island is also worth a visit and can be reached either by water taxi or local bus. The town of Andratx is, just like our old favourite Pollensa, set inland form the Port. It’s a web of narrow cobbled streets set on a hillside and dominated by the fortress like church of Santa Maria. Views back to Puerto Andratx from the old town are quite spectacular. The area around Andratx is home to 6 championship golf courses for those looking for more activity. Nightlife in Puerto Andratx is a fairly relaxed affair with most of the emphasis on the many restaurants, some of which have lovely views out across the marina, particularly stunning at sunset.. There are bars aplenty although this is a resort more suited to couples and families than clubbers. |
